Hy-Met is a deep tech midland-based startup that specialised in sensor production for batteries and the H2 industry. The company is currently working on launching its new product, Hyper Metrology Platform. This new platform will radically change the approach to testing batteries and make the manufacturing process more efficient.

Hy-Met was founded in 2021. Since then, they’ve done really well, winning 89% of the funding grants they applied for. This has allowed them to grow quickly, forming a strategic partnership

Problem

The challenge that manufacturing encounter is that making lithium-ion batteries is not easy. Right now, up to 30% of these batteries are wasted during manufacturing. This is a big problem, especially as the materials needed to make these batteries are non-renewable. To make things worse, finding these problems early is really hard and expensive. Also, as more rules are being made about tracking where products come from (like the Battery Passport), it’s becoming more important to solve these issues.

Solution

Hy-Met’s new product, the Hyper Metrology Platform, helps make battery testing faster. It allows companies to keep a closer eye on their manufacturing process by placing the testers at critical points in their production line. This means companies can spot problems with batteries as they happen and keep track of each battery made.

The platform will also collect important data, which gives companies more information about their manufacturing process and the causes of defects.
